The San Diego County Water Authority announced yesterday that it is ready to replace 4,000 outdated toilets with professionally installed, high-efficiency models -- at no cost to residents in mobile home communities, multi-family units and income qualifying single-family homes. Residents who are current or past participants in low-income energy efficiency programs are also encouraged to apply.
The goal of the Direct Install Program is to help residents save money on their water bill. If you have a toilet that uses 1.6 gallons or more per flush, apply now for a premium toilet, free of charge and fully installed, that uses 1.0 gallon per flush. Smart irrigation controllers that automatically adjust your watering times based on the weather are also available through the program, free of charge.
To apply, call 1-888-272-8394 and request an appointment.
The San Diego Diego County Water Authority announced that is has already replaced more than 6,000 toilets through the Direct Install Program, which is funded by more than $4 million in grants from the California Department of Water Resources and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
