Lake Jennings primarily stores imported water from the Colorado River and Northern California. Helix owns and operates the dam and reservoir and provides camping, fishing, boating and other recreation.
El Capitan Reservoir 10,000 acre feet of water storage rights
The city of San Diego owns and operates El Capitan Reservoir. Helix traded ownership of Lake Murray for water storage rights in El Capitan because it is at a higher elevation, which allows delivery of the water by gravity to the R.M. Levy Water Treatment Plant.
