Mulch Rebate
Customers of Helix Water District are now eligible for a rebate of $25 per cubic yard, up to $100, for the purchase and installation of plant-based mulch!
Why You Should Use Mulch
Using mulch in your landscape reduces evaporation and helps your soil hold water. It can prevent damage from the sun and reduce erosion. Mulch also adds nutrients to your soil, prevents weeds, hides drip irrigation tubing and creates a tidy landscape.
How to Install Mulch
Place mulch above the soil in a 3 to 4 inch layer. Keep 3 to 5 inches away from the base of any shrub or tree. Use mulch to cover the soil in planters, walkways, and bare soil areas between plants.
Where to Get Mulch
You can find great plant-based mulch from nurseries, resource recycling facilities, landscape supply stores, home improvement stores, and even tree trimming services.
