Helix Water District has two local reservoirs, Lake Cuyamaca and Lake Jennings. Watershed protection is one of the primary responsibilities of the District. Helix encourages residents around the reservoirs to assist in keeping the watershed clean by limiting the use of pesticides, properly disposing of animal waste and chemical pollutants.

This fall, as part of the District's awareness campaign, Helix held a photo contest for residents who live in the Lake Jennings watershed. The District is proud to announce the winner: Sid Cavey who lives near the reservoir and submitted a "spectacular" photo of a rainbow over the Lake.

Mr. Cavey will receive a one-day free boat rental at Lake Jennings, and his photo will appear in a Lake Jennings Watershed Protection brochure and on a Lake Jennings Watershed Protection magnet.

Helix thanks all of the photo contest participants and extends its congratulations to Mr. Cavey!

Project Suspended
Helix Water District board of directors voted to suspend the El Monte Valley Mining, Reclamation, and Groundwater Recharge Project . The project halt is primarily due to a delay in the availability of advanced treated recycled water and increased project cost.
