Helix named 'Business of the Year'

San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce honored Helix Water District as "Business of the Year" during the chamber's 93rd annual awards dinner Jan. 28. The "Denim & Diamonds" affair was held at the Ronald Reagan Community Center in El Cajon with more than 100 East County business leaders attending.

According to the chanmber, the business of the year award was given to Helix for "outstanding achievement in business," and the District was lauded for maintaining water quality and reliability, providing superior customer service, for being an active participant in the East County Chamber events and programs, including the Chamber's Leadership Training, providing support to the Water Conservation Garden, and providing quality water to surrounding water districts.

John Linden, president of the Helix Water District board, accepted the award on behalf of the District, thanking them for their support of public services.

"I am honored that Helix was selected for this award," Linden said. "Helix strives to provide exceptional public service in East County and takes pride
in providing quality water to the area. We serve a quarter of a million people in East County, and I thank the chamber on behalf of the (Helix) board and Mark Weston, our general manager."

The award will be on display in the lobby of the Helix Water District administration office at 7811 University Ave., in La Mesa.
