Get a free home-landscape survey

A series of new water conservation programs are sprouting up to help you save water at home, especially in your yard.
Residential customers are eligible to have a free water conservation survey performed at their home.

A trained representative from Helix Water District will come out to your home and review your indoor and outdoor water use. The rep will analyze your irrigation system and type of plant material, review your watering schedule, and make site-specific recommendations to improve water efficiency.

“Up to 50 to 70 percent of household water is used outdoors,” Jeff Barnes, the district’s certified landscape irrigation auditor, said. “There are opportunities for big savings.”

The rep also will review your indoor water usage by measuring the flow rate on faucets and showerheads. Low-flow showerheads are available free of charge.

If interested, you can learn how to check for a leak by viewing your water meter. Following the survey, you will receive a comprehensive survey report, which includes recommendations on how you can lower your household water usage. Additionally, you will be provided information about a wide palette of available plants, flowers, bushes and trees for water-wise landscaping.

The average survey takes less than 60 minutes to complete. To schedule a survey at your home, call (619) 667-6261.
