Conserve water - EVERY DROP counts this year!

It’s always a good idea to use water wisely in San Diego County, but it’s especially important right now. Water resources in Southern California are more limited than ever. Ninety-percent of the region's water is imported from either the Colorado River or Northern California through the State Water Project. Historic dry conditions in California, coupled with the June shutdown of a major pumping plant providing water to Southern California, make it essential for residents and businesses to increase conservation immediately.
The more water we save now, the more water San Diego County water agencies will have in storage to meet future demands. If each person in your household can save 20 gallons or more a day, that will significantly help the region get through this challenging time. And saving water is easier than you might think. A few simple changes can make a big difference in your water usage – as well as your water bill!

Helix Water District offers a variety of conservation programs to our customers
to help them use less water. Some programs
involve installing devices such as high-efficiency washers. Other programs are designed
to change water-use habits, such as the surveying
programs. For these programs, an irrigation auditor will come
to the customer's property, review the irrigation patterns,
and give suggestions on how to give the landscape just the water
it needs.
The Public Information Program is designed to remind customers
that an average of 90-percent of our water is imported and we must
always use it wisely. When our customers carry out these programs,
they reduce water use and often see a savings on their water bills.
All of these programs are offered free to our customers.

* Note: San Diego County Water Authority is suspending rebates on synthetic turf and has asked its member agencies, including Helix Water District, to also suspend rebates. This is due to the recent Centers For Disease Control and Prevention health advisory. This suspension is indefinite while we await more definitive scientific results and recommendations on the safety of artificial turf. Click here for more information about the health advisory.
